Why We Love Our Upcycled Granola Ingredients

Let's be real here. Recipe development is no easy task. You start with an idea and jump into your first recipe... but it doesn’t end there. To get things just right, sometimes you have to try it over and over until you find exactly what you want. Anyone been there before? It is work. This is exactly what has been happening in the SOULMUCH kitchen for a few months now. We started with the upcycled almond pulp and knew we wanted to do something new with it but didn’t know exactly what. Next thing we knew, the idea of granola came to life as a way to showcase this awesome new ingredient while also incorporating our upcycled grains (brown rice & quinoa). At the end of it all, this recipe was made with laughs, tears, and lots of love. The recipe process is all about refining and improving which is exactly what we will be doing once we launch it and hear what you think about it. We are so excited to gather more feedback as we launch and hear what you have to say.  

Ingredients you can feel confident in. 

Proteins & Fats

Upcycled Almond Pulp, Hemp Seeds, Almond Butter, Chia Seeds,
Sliced Almonds 

In the SOUL fam, we welcome all macronutrients. The protein and fat in these powerhouse ingredients will keep you satiated for longer, while providing healthy (aka poly and mono-unsaturated) fats along with omega fatty acids. Fats support cell growth and provide you with energy! Did you know some vitamins are fat-soluble meaning they are absorbed through fat in the stomach along with that food. Hence, meals are best when balanced with proteins, fats and carbohydrates! 

Whole Grains

Oats, Upcycled Brown Rice, Upcycled Quinoa

Why are whole grains better? Whole grains retain the entire body of the grain (bran, germ and endosperm). In refined white flour, the bran and germ are removed, which takes away from the natural vitamin and mineral content of that grain. This is why grain products are then fortified. That basically means they are adding those vitamins and minerals back in. However, they don’t add back in the fiber. Most Americans don’t get enough fiber in their daily diet! One serving of our granola packs in 3 grams!

Taste of Sweetness

Organic Coconut Sugar, Organic Maple Syrup

Just the perfect touch of unrefined sweetness. Just like our cookies, this granola isn't overwhelmingly sweet. Sweet enough to eat on its own but not too sweet to pair with yogurt or acai and your favorite fruits. 


Cinnamon, Vanilla, Molasses, Salt

The final touch. Without these, the granola wouldn't have that amazing taste that everyone has raved about so far. We puzzled over the name for a while and ultimately went to you, our SOUL fam. Our taste testers gave us so many create name ideas, it was had to choose! Ultimately, we went with the one that filled our hearts with the most joy: Vanilla Maple Munch :)
